There was an article in the NYT about doulas. It stunk. At first I thought it stunk, then I thought it was OK, but upon further consideration, it stunk. So I'm not going to link to it because the fewer people who read it, the better. Not because it was negative but because it was classless and careless journalism.

Thank you. I have a Google alert on the word "doula" and there is a positive article written about doulas published somewhere in the English-speaking world, pretty much every day. The less we say about the NYT article, the better.
Right on--I teach college composition classes, and my first reaction to the NYT piece was, 'Wow; this doesn't make any sense; I would fail a student if he or she tried to use evidence this way.' But some of the letters to the editor it generated are interesting.
Thanks, M, for that link to the letters!
